About Set Up My Watch
In short: Set Up My Watch is an independent watch-setup guide written by Catalin Alexandru, a UK-based engineer and watch enthusiast. It is not affiliated with Omega, Swatch or any other brand. The drawings are our own, and every model guide is checked against the manufacturer's manual.
Who writes the guides
The site is written and maintained by Catalin Alexandru, an engineer based in the UK and a watch enthusiast. The aim is simple: for each watch, put the answer to "how do I set this?" on one page, in plain steps, instead of leaving it spread across a PDF manual, forum threads and videos.
Independent and unaffiliated
Set Up My Watch isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or paid by OMEGA SA, Swatch AG, The Swatch Group, Citizen, Tissot, Longines, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Frederique Constant, Seiko, Fossil or any other brand mentioned. There are no adverts and no affiliate links. Brand and model names are used only to identify the watches.
Our own drawings
Every watch picture on the site is a simplified illustration drawn from data by our own code. None are product photos. They show the crown positions and pushers you need, not every detail of the real dial.
How the guides are checked
- Manufacturer first. Each model guide starts from the brand's own manual or support page, linked under "Sources" on that page. Where only a non-English manual exists (for example Frederique Constant's Japanese manuals), we translate it ourselves and say so.
- Cross-checked. Reference numbers, calibres and launch details are checked against the brand's product pages and, where needed, reputable watch publications and collector archives.
- Our own words. Steps are rewritten in plain language, never copied from manuals.
- Labelled honestly. "Verified" means the procedure comes from the manufacturer's documentation for that calibre. "Partial" means part of it is inferred from a closely related model. Steps that are general advice rather than a manual instruction are marked "Generic step". Anything we couldn't confirm is left out.
- Dated. Each guide shows the date it was last checked. This round of checks was completed on 2026-10-17.
Your watch's own manual always takes precedence. If a guide disagrees with yours, tell us and we'll correct it.
